Trainer Guided Day Hiking

For dogs who have trained with us, a new exclusive service.

Give your dog the gift of nature therapy hikes and training with Certified Professional Dog Trainers! We have hand selected trails for your dog’s needs. These personally vetted nearby hikes and have different features that facilitate your dog’s needs whether that’s tracking activity, practice navigating their body through natural terrain (parkour) or working their hunting drive safely. Let us solidify your dog’s recall, work on leash walking, relaxation or interrupting predatory drive. Book a day hike for your dog on any available Friday. You will need a Fi or Whistle GPS and your dog will be on a long line for safety.

Therapy in Nature

  • Predation Substitute Training: taps skills and genetic drives, increases confidence, releases dopamine and builds a foundation for safe games that use the predatory sequence safely.

  • Nose work: Finding items in nature through scent work and games to get your dog involved in using their nose. Releases serotonin and builds relaxation. Informs the dog about their environment and hones their olfactory sense.

  • Decompression: relaxation for dogs who are stressed by city crowds, sounds or objects. Give your dog a quiet break from it all with some decompression time. Cortisol and adrenaline have time to reduce so your dog can return to their baseline and face city challenges again.

*Rule outs: If your dog gets carsick or is dog-aggressive this isn’t the service for you, but we can talk about ways to get you what you’re looking for. Similar activities can be done in Prospect Park if travel is hard on your pup.

Details:

  • The first test hike will take place in Forest Park in Queens. This is to see how your dog does in the car and on a long line while hiking. Future hikes are usually in Westchester County.

  • Dogs must be fully vaccinated, including against Leptospirosis.

  • Flea, Tick & Heartworm preventatives are also required.

  • GPS collar is required, Fi is recommended.

If interested we do a free test run in Forest Park.

Rescheduling Policy

Rescheduling is required 24 hours before a scheduled appointment or a fee, up to the cost of one session, may be incurred. At the discretion of the trainer, exceptions may be made in the case of emergencies such as illness or inclement weather.
